Why Hiring a Dog Walker may be a gamechanger!

Why Hiring a Dog Walker could be the best decision for you and your dog.

As a devoted dog owner, I always want the best for Henry and Rosie. I want to make sure they live their best life and have all the care I can give them.

Occasionally, there are times when I need to be away from them and making sure they are walked and happy is my main priority. That is why hiring a professional dog walker, Our fantastic dog walker Paul has been a gamechanger for both me and my dogs.

The Benefits

1. Regular exercise and mental stimulation

Dogs need consistent physical activity to stay healthy and happy.  Paul ensures that Henry and Rosie get the exercise they need and he works on small training tasks on each walk too.

2. Socialisation Opportunities

Henry and Rosie go on a solo walk with Paul but many walkers run group sessions. These can be good for socialisation in a controlled safe way. Rosie is reactive and Paul works with her on every walk using positive reinforcement techniques.

3.  Peace of mind

Knowing my dogs are with a person I trust means I can focus on the task I am doing without guilt or worry. Paul provides me with updates, photos and videos which keeps me reassured.

What to look for in a Good Dog Walker

Experience and Qualifications

In the UK, there are no formal qualifications for dog walkers, but many have first aid training and insurance. Always ask about their experience and credentials.

Insurance and DBS Checks

A reputable dog walker will have liability insurance and if they have access to your home a DBS check can offer peace of mind.

References and Reviews

Check online reviews and references. A trustworthy walker will be happy to provide these.

Meet and Greet Session

Before booking, arrange a meeting with you, the dogs and your walker. See how they interact and if they are a good match. paul took the time to understand Henry and Rosie's differing requirements, personalities and quirks. He walked them on lead only for several weeks before off lead walking was offered. hew wanted to be confident in their recall and bond first.

Communications and Updates

The best dog walkers provide updates on how your dog is doing, whether through messages, photos or a short report after each walk. Pauls updates always brighten my day and let me know Henry and Rosie are enjoying their walks. He has taught Henry to wait at gates and not to rush through them, something we have always struggled with. Henry absolutely adore Paul!
